Job Description

An insurance company software team in Germiston needs a developer who can take a ticket from idea to production. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

The work is in Germiston, Gauteng, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

The work, day to day

Design database tables and write efficient SQL queries
Document how your features work for support and new developers
Write, test and refactor code in your team's main language
Join daily stand-ups and sprint planning
Write unit and integration tests before you merge
Deploy through a CI/CD pipeline on Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions or GitLab

You'll need

Commercial experience in at least one of PHP, C#, Java, Python or JavaScript
Solid Git habits: branches, pull requests and meaningful commit messages
Experience writing automated tests
You can explain technical choices to non-technical people

Nice if you have

Public GitHub portfolio or published app
Experience in regulated sectors such as banking or medical schemes
Docker and Kubernetes experience
