Plumber and Gas Installer (LPG)

This property management company in Khayelitsha needs a plumber who arrives on time, fixes it properly and leaves the site clean. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

Location: Khayelitsha, Western Cape. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Clear blocked drains with a rodding machine and inspect lines with a drain camera
• Work on the emergency call-out roster for after-hours bursts
• Order fittings from the supplier and keep the van stocked
• Install copper, PEX and PVC piping for new bathrooms and kitchens
• Service booster pumps, pressure tanks and water storage tanks
• Issue plumbing Certificates of Compliance for completed installations

• Plumbing trade test certificate or an Occupational Certificate: Plumber (NQF 4)
• At least 3 years as a qualified plumber, including geyser replacements
• PIRB registration as a Licensed Plumber, so you can issue plumbing CoCs
• Working knowledge of SANS 10252-1 and SANS 10254
• Fit enough to lift a 150-litre geyser with a helper and work in tight roof spaces
• Able to talk politely to home owners about damage and costs

• Protective clothing and safety boots replaced yearly
• Call-out bonus for every after-hours job you complete
• Cellphone allowance for job updates and photos

• Mention how many geyser replacements you do in a normal month. It is the number most plumbing managers ask about.
• Do not list every plumbing task you have ever done. Focus on geysers, drainage and CoCs, which is what these jobs pay for.
