Job Description

You'll mix, carry, dig and clean up so the tradespeople on a low-cost housing development in Ermelo can keep building. This role rewards consistency more than flash.

This post is Ermelo-based, with most of your time spent at a low-cost housing development. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

The work, day to day

Dig trenches and foundations to the depth the foreman marks
Cut and lay paving bricks along string lines
Erect and strip shutters and simple scaffolding under supervision
Sign the daily safety talk register before work starts
Carry bricks, blocks and cement bags to where the bricklayers work
Clear rubble and load it into skips

You'll need

A clean record is preferred for some government sites
Willing to start early, often at 06:30
Grade 8 or higher
Physically strong and fit for outdoor work in all weather
Prepared to travel between sites in the area

Helpful, not essential

A working-at-heights or scaffolding ticket
Registered on your ward or municipal job-seeker database

What you get

Boots, hard hat and overalls issued on site
Overtime on weekend pours and deadline days
Paid weekly or fortnightly
