Site Labourer (Concrete Crew)

Hard outdoor work on a low-cost housing development in Mbombela, with a chance to learn a trade while you earn. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

This post is in Mbombela (Mpumalanga). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Sign the daily safety talk register before work starts
• Cut and lay paving bricks along string lines
• Clear rubble and load it into skips
• Clean tools, mixers and wheelbarrows at the end of each day
• Set up barriers, cones and signs around open trenches
• Pass tools and materials to the plumber or electrician as needed

• Prepared to travel between sites in the area
• Willing to start early, often at 06:30
• Able to follow instructions from a foreman or artisan
• You take safety rules seriously and wear full PPE

• Previous site work you can show with a reference
• A working-at-heights or scaffolding ticket

• Boots, hard hat and overalls issued on site
• Learn from artisans with a chance to move up to assistant
• Paid weekly or fortnightly

• Government-funded projects often reserve jobs for people from the local ward. Bring proof of address and ask the site office about the local labour desk.
• If a foreman can vouch for you, put their number on your CV. Site hiring runs on word of mouth.
