Production Assistant (Chemical Blending)

Good factory hands stay for years, and this furniture assembly factory in East London trains from day one. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

Location: East London, Eastern Cape. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

• Clean down machines and floors at the end of each run
• Weigh ingredients or additives against the recipe card
• Pack finished product into cases and stack them by batch number
• Help the machine operator clear jams and reload hoppers
• Stop the line with the emergency stop if anything jams or looks unsafe
• Check product for size, weight and seal faults and pull out rejects
• Hand over at shift change with notes on rejects and stoppages

• Grade 10 minimum, matric an advantage
• Able to stand for a full shift in a noisy, warm area
• No problem wearing full PPE, including ear protection
• Basic reading and counting for batch sheets
• You follow hygiene rules without being reminded
• Available for rotating day and night shifts

• Night-shift allowance on top of basic pay
• Company transport on some night shifts
• Path to machine operator after six months

• Name the products you worked on before, like "biscuit line" or "juice bottling". Factory recruiters read that faster than a job title.
• Do not wear jewellery or long nails to the interview if it is on site. Food factories notice and it counts.
