Production Assistant (Chemical Blending) – Fixed-Term

You'll keep the line running at a snack food factory in Rosslyn, feeding, checking and packing product all shift. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

You'll be based at a snack food factory in Rosslyn. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Change over packaging film and labels when the line switches product
• Clean down machines and floors at the end of each run
• Record batch codes and counts on the hourly production sheet
• Stop the line with the emergency stop if anything jams or looks unsafe
• Follow lock-out procedures when helping with cleaning inside machines
• Wear hairnets, beard covers and gloves in food-safe zones

• Available for rotating day and night shifts
• Grade 10 minimum, matric an advantage
• No problem wearing full PPE, including ear protection
• You follow hygiene rules without being reminded
• Basic reading and counting for batch sheets
• Able to stand for a full shift in a noisy, warm area

• Experience assisting on a packaging or filling machine
• A food handler or basic HACCP awareness certificate

• Free PPE, overalls and hairnets
• Staff shop with discounted factory products
• Path to machine operator after six months

• Name the products you worked on before, like "biscuit line" or "juice bottling". Factory recruiters read that faster than a job title.
• Mention that you can work rotating shifts right at the top. It is the first thing most factories filter on.
