Professional Nurse (Maternity and Labour Ward)

This is a registered nursing post at a private hospital surgical ward in Mbombela, with your own patient load and a say in the care plan. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

This post is in Mbombela (Mpumalanga). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Monitor vital signs, fluid balance and early warning scores, and escalate changes quickly
• Report adverse events and near misses on the incident system the same day
• Do full patient assessments and update nursing care plans every shift
• Admit and discharge patients and explain medication and follow-up to families
• Run emergency trolley checks and respond to cardiac arrest calls

• Nursing qualification via the R425 diploma or R174 degree route
• You can work 12-hour day or night shifts, weekends and public holidays
• Valid BLS certificate; ACLS or PALS for ICU and emergency posts
• Solid knowledge of medication safety and the Nursing Act scope of practice
• At least 1 year of post-community-service ward experience
• Calm under pressure when a patient's condition turns quickly

• Post-basic qualification in critical care, theatre or advanced midwifery
• IMCI and NIMART training for primary health care work

• Study support for post-basic specialities
• Night-shift and weekend allowances on top of basic pay
• Medical aid and pension fund contributions after probation

• List your speciality skills in plain words, such as "ventilated patients" or "normal deliveries", instead of just the ward name.
• Check your SANC receipt is for this year before you apply; an unpaid annual fee gets your application parked.
