Professional Nurse (Medical Ward) – Permanent

You'll run patient care on a busy shift at a private hospital surgical ward in Kathu, from admission to discharge. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

Location: Kathu, Northern Cape. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first.

• Monitor vital signs, fluid balance and early warning scores, and escalate changes quickly
• Do full patient assessments and update nursing care plans every shift
• Keep clinical notes clear, timed and signed for audits and legal records
• Supervise enrolled nurses and nursing assistants on your side of the ward
• Do wound care, catheter care and IV line management to unit protocol
• Run emergency trolley checks and respond to cardiac arrest calls
• Prepare patients for theatre and receive them back from recovery

• You can work 12-hour day or night shifts, weekends and public holidays
• Valid BLS certificate; ACLS or PALS for ICU and emergency posts
• Clean criminal record
• At least 1 year of post-community-service ward experience
• Current SANC registration as a Professional Nurse, with this year's annual fees paid

• Dispensing licence (Section 22A(15)) for clinic posts
• Post-basic qualification in critical care, theatre or advanced midwifery
• Unit manager or shift leader experience

• Funded CPD points and in-house clinical training
• Night-shift and weekend allowances on top of basic pay
• Study support for post-basic specialities
• Medical aid and pension fund contributions after probation
