Job Description

Patients in this provincial district hospital in Prospecton count on your clinical judgement every single shift. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

You'll report in Prospecton. Relocation is not covered for this one.

What your day looks like

Admit and discharge patients and explain medication and follow-up to families
Prepare patients for theatre and receive them back from recovery
Monitor vital signs, fluid balance and early warning scores, and escalate changes quickly
Run emergency trolley checks and respond to cardiac arrest calls
Give scheduled medication, including Schedule 5 and 6 drugs, and sign the register
Supervise enrolled nurses and nursing assistants on your side of the ward

You'll need

At least 1 year of post-community-service ward experience
Calm under pressure when a patient's condition turns quickly
You can work 12-hour day or night shifts, weekends and public holidays
Nursing qualification via the R425 diploma or R174 degree route

Extra points for

Post-basic qualification in critical care, theatre or advanced midwifery
Dispensing licence (Section 22A(15)) for clinic posts
Unit manager or shift leader experience
