Protection Engineer (MV and HV Networks)

You'll design, protect and maintain electrical systems for the solar and battery project developer in eMalahleni. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

You'll report in eMalahleni. Relocation is not covered for this one. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

• Design solar PV and battery systems and handle grid connection to NRS 097
• Guide technicians and contractors on site during commissioning
• Plan maintenance for switchgear, transformers and motor control centres
• Keep single line diagrams and as-built drawings up to date
• Set and test protection relays and keep settings records
• Draw up tender specifications and bills of quantities for electrical works
• Investigate power quality problems with a power analyser

• BEng or BSc Eng in Electrical Engineering, or a BTech or Advanced Diploma for technologist posts
• At least 3 years of electrical engineering work after graduating
• Strong understanding of SANS 10142 and the Electrical Installation Regulations
• ECSA registration as Pr Eng, Pr Tech Eng or Candidate
• Experience with at least one power system or lighting design package

• Protection or HV operating authorisation
• PLC programming certification
