Quality Sorter (Packaging Factory) – Fixed-Term

Here in Durban Central, a snack food factory needs steady people who can repeat a task well for eight hours. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

This post is Durban Central-based, with most of your time spent at a snack food factory.

• Feed raw material or empty packaging into the machine at the start of the line
• Move full bins and crates to the next station with a trolley
• Check product for size, weight and seal faults and pull out rejects
• Clean down machines and floors at the end of each run
• Wear hairnets, beard covers and gloves in food-safe zones
• Follow lock-out procedures when helping with cleaning inside machines
• Hand over at shift change with notes on rejects and stoppages

• Available for rotating day and night shifts
• You follow hygiene rules without being reminded
• Able to stand for a full shift in a noisy, warm area
• No problem wearing full PPE, including ear protection
• Grade 10 minimum, matric an advantage
• Medically fit; some food plants ask for a medical check

• Previous work in a food or FMCG factory
• NQF Level 2 manufacturing learnership completed

• Staff shop with discounted factory products
• Free PPE, overalls and hairnets
• Night-shift allowance on top of basic pay

• Name the products you worked on before, like "biscuit line" or "juice bottling". Factory recruiters read that faster than a job title.
• Do not wear jewellery or long nails to the interview if it is on site. Food factories notice and it counts.
