Quantity Surveyor (Building Contractor)

The main building contractor in Sasolburg needs a QS who can price a tender and still defend a final account. This role rewards consistency more than flash.

Home base is a main building contractor on the Sasolburg side of Free State. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

• Use measuring software to do take-offs from PDF and CAD drawings
• Value variations and prepare claims under JBCC or GCC conditions
• Draft subcontract agreements and payment schedules
• Get quotes from subcontractors and compare them line by line
• Prepare the final account at the end of the project
• Price tenders using supplier quotes, labour rates and plant costs
• Measure work on site for monthly interim payment certificates

• BSc, BTech or Diploma in Quantity Surveying
• Understanding of JBCC Principal Building Agreement clauses
• Accurate with numbers and able to back up every figure you certify
• You know the Standard System of Measuring Building Work
• At least 3 years of QS work in private practice or with a contractor
• Strong Excel skills, including formulas and pivot tables

• Hybrid days in the office and on site
• Paid SACQSP registration fees and CPD courses
• Travel allowance for site visits
• Study support for an honours degree
