Retail Security Officer (Clothing Store)

You'll catch shoplifting and stock losses at an electronics store in Kariega before they cost jobs. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

This post is in Kariega (Eastern Cape). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Walk the floor in plain clothes and watch for shoplifting behaviour
• Check receiving bay deliveries against invoices and seal numbers
• Tag high-value stock and check security tags at the doors
• Attend court as a witness when a case goes to trial
• Record every incident with photos, times and value of goods
• Detain suspects lawfully and call SAPS, then write a statement

• PSIRA registration, Grade C at least
• Matric or equivalent NQF Level 4
• Discreet, observant and honest
• Able to handle confrontation calmly

• Retail loss prevention course
• Previous store detective experience with case outcomes
• Understanding of stock systems and shrinkage reports

• Plain clothes work (no uniform in detective roles)
• Staff discount at the retailer

• Give numbers on your CV: how many cases you opened, how many led to arrests. Retail security managers trust results.
• Keep your appearance low-key for the interview. Detectives need to blend in with shoppers.
