Job Description

Behind every truck on the road is a controller; at a distribution depot in Pretoria East, that could be you. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

The work is in Pretoria East, Gauteng, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

The work, day to day

Check driver hours so nobody drives too long without rest
Capture trip sheets, fuel and toll costs on the system
Arrange breakdown recovery and replacement vehicles
Plan daily loads to use full truck capacity
Keep a register of PrDP and licence expiry dates for all drivers
Book vehicle services, licence renewals and roadworthy tests

Must-haves

At least 2 years in transport or logistics
Calm and decisive when things go wrong
Good with Excel and email
Able to work shifts in a 24-hour control office
Knowledge of South African road freight regulations
Matric

Helpful, not essential

Previous truck driving experience
Experience on a vehicle telematics platform
Transport management system (TMS) experience
