Shift Supervisor (Underground Coal) – Immediate Start

This underground platinum mine near Lephalale needs a miner who makes every workplace safe before a single hole is drilled. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

This post is Lephalale-based, with most of your time spent at an underground platinum mine.

• Stop work when a condition is unsafe, using your right to withdraw
• Hold a start-of-shift safety talk and deal with any unsafe condition
• Clear the area, post guards and blast on time as the blasting certificate allows
• Charge up holes and connect initiation systems for the blast
• Do the early entry examination and make the workplace safe before the crew enters
• Mark off drilling holes to the standard pattern and check the drilling
• Test for flammable gas and check ventilation before and after blasting

• No serious safety transgressions in your record
• Grade 12 or equivalent, plus the MQA-accredited miner training
• Sound knowledge of your commodity's mining method and support standards
• Certificate of fitness from the mine medical station, including heat tolerance screening where required

• Housing or living-out allowance
• Pension fund with employer contributions
• Production bonus based on metres or square metres achieved

• Write your blasting certificate number and date of issue near the top of the CV.
• List each mine, commodity and mining method on your CV, like "conventional stoping, platinum, 4 years".
