Site Manager (Retail Construction) – Immediate Start

Here you run the site: labour, materials, quality and progress for the general building contractor in Mogwase. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

This post is Mogwase-based, with most of your time spent at a general building contractor.

• Check workmanship against drawings, specifications and SANS 10400
• Run toolbox talks and support the safety officer on Construction Regulations compliance
• Chair the weekly site meeting and record actions for the principal agent
• Set out foundations, grid lines and levels with the surveyor or a dumpy level
• Check reinforcing, shuttering and cover blocks before calling for a pour inspection
• Coordinate subcontractors for plumbing, electrical, roofing and glazing
• Keep the site diary, daily labour returns and plant hours up to date

• National Diploma or BTech in Building or Civil Engineering, or a trade background with site experience
• Good with MS Project or a similar programme tool
• Firm with labour, fair with subcontractors
• At least 5 years on building or civil sites, 2 of them in a supervisory post
• You can read architectural and structural drawings and pick up clashes
• Working knowledge of the Construction Regulations 2014 under the OHS Act

• Concrete technology short course
• SACPCMP registration as a Construction Manager or Candidate
• Surveying skills with a total station

• Vehicle allowance or company bakkie
• Cellphone and laptop supplied
• Project completion bonus linked to handover date
• Site accommodation on out-of-town projects

• Add a short project table to your CV: project name, type, rand value and your role. Contractors hire on project size.
• Mention the contract types you have worked on, like JBCC or GCC. It shows you understand claims and variations.
