Site Security Officer (Construction Yard) – Fixed-Term

You'll control who comes in and out of a construction yard in Prospecton, and log every visitor properly. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

The work is in Prospecton, KwaZulu-Natal, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Watch for loitering, broken fencing and open doors during night patrols
• Call the armed response or SAPS number from the call list when needed
• Write every incident and shift change in the occurrence book (OB)
• Check visitors' IDs and capture them on the visitor app or in the gate register
• Open and close boom gates for residents, deliveries and contractors
• Search vehicles and bags leaving the site when company policy requires it
• Keep the guardhouse clean and the OB up to date for the relieving officer

• Speaks and writes basic English
• Grade 10 minimum; matric preferred
• Alert, polite and firm with the public
• Able to work 12-hour day and night shifts, including weekends
• Clean criminal record

• First-aid Level 1 certificate
• A Code 8 licence for vehicle patrols
• Firefighting or evacuation training

• Stable long-term site contracts
• Provident fund contributions
• Paid night-shift allowance under the security sector rules
• Uniform, boots and winter jacket issued

• Make sure your PSIRA fees are paid. A lapsed registration gets your CV thrown out, even if you have years of experience.
• Arrive for the interview in neat clothes with your certificates in a plastic sleeve. It shows the discipline they want.
