Job Description

A software development house in Brackenfell needs a developer who can take a ticket from idea to production. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

This post is Brackenfell-based, with most of your time spent at a software development house. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

What your day looks like

Join daily stand-ups and sprint planning
Investigate production bugs using logs and monitoring dashboards
Design database tables and write efficient SQL queries
Handle personal data safely, with POPIA rules in mind
Write, test and refactor code in your team's main language
Pick up tickets from the sprint board and estimate the work
Review teammates' pull requests with useful comments

You'll need

A computer science or IT qualification, or a portfolio that proves you can build
Commercial experience in at least one of PHP, C#, Java, Python or JavaScript
Stable internet and a quiet workspace for remote days
You can explain technical choices to non-technical people
Good SQL and understanding of relational databases
Solid Git habits: branches, pull requests and meaningful commit messages

Extra points for

Experience in regulated sectors such as banking or medical schemes
Cloud certification on AWS, Azure or Google Cloud
Knowledge of secure coding and the OWASP Top 10
