Job Description

Want to grow as a chef? This conference centre kitchen in Secunda gives you real stations and real volume. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

Location: Secunda, Mpumalanga. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

What you'll actually do

Help cost recipes and track waste on the weekly sheet.
Plate to the spec photo so every dish looks the same.
Receive deliveries, check weights and reject short-dated produce.
Bake breads, pastries or desserts for the morning buffet.
Log fridge and freezer temperatures twice a shift on the HACCP sheet.

Must-haves

Good knife skills and you can prep at speed
You know food safety basics under R638 and HACCP
Weekend, holiday and evening work is part of the deal
1 to 3 years in a busy commercial kitchen

Extra points for

Experience with combi ovens and batch cooking
Stock and ordering experience on a system such as Micros or Pilot
Halaal or kosher kitchen experience
