Transport Controller (Long Haul Fleet)

Behind every truck on the road is a controller; at a road freight company in East London, that could be you. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

You'll report in East London. Relocation is not covered for this one. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

• Update customers on delivery times and delays
• Capture trip sheets, fuel and toll costs on the system
• Check driver hours so nobody drives too long without rest
• Keep a register of PrDP and licence expiry dates for all drivers
• Phone drivers when trucks stop too long or go off-route

• Able to work shifts in a 24-hour control office
• Calm and decisive when things go wrong
• At least 2 years in transport or logistics
• Clear on the phone with drivers and customers
• Knowledge of South African road freight regulations
• Matric

• Logistics or supply chain certificate
• Previous truck driving experience

• Cellphone allowance for standby shifts
• Office-based work with a steady roster
• Training on the fleet and tracking systems

• If you drove trucks before, say so. Controllers who know the road earn quick respect from drivers.
• Give the fleet size and route types you handled, for example "40 trucks, long-haul and local". Hiring managers want scale.
