Truck Mechanic (Fleet Workshop) – Fixed-Term

You'll service and repair heavy diesel vehicles for the truck dealership workshop in Tembisa. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

You'll be based at a truck dealership workshop in Tembisa. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

• Repair gearboxes, differentials and clutches on heavy vehicles
• Diagnose electronic engine faults with a heavy-duty diagnostic laptop
• Fault-find AdBlue and aftertreatment systems on newer engines
• Overhaul brake systems, including air valves, chambers and slack adjusters
• Carry out pre-roadworthy checks before the vehicle goes for COF testing
• Inspect tyres, fifth wheels and kingpins for wear and damage

• Solid understanding of air brake systems
• At least 3 years on heavy commercial vehicles or plant
• Experience with electronic diagnostics on modern diesel engines
• Diesel mechanic trade test certificate
• Willing to do standby and roadside call-outs

• Hydraulic systems training
• PrDP for road tests with loaded vehicles

• Provident fund and funeral cover
• Heavy-duty tools supplied by the workshop
• Overtime available most weeks
• Standby and call-out allowance
