Job Description

Good service at a family steakhouse in Umlazi starts with you: friendly, quick and on top of every order. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

You'll be based at a family steakhouse in Umlazi. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

What your day looks like

Explain specials, allergens and wine pairings in plain words.
Check back two minutes after mains land and fix problems on the spot.
Clear, wipe and reset tables fast during the Friday and Sunday rush.
Split bills, process card payments and handle tip-outs at the end of shift.
Mix cocktails, pour draught and serve shooters to spec at the bar.

What you need

Neat grooming and a friendly manner under pressure
Quick with basic maths and card machines
At least 6 months of waitering, bar or coffee shop experience
Grade 10 or higher; matric is a plus

Helpful, not essential

A barista course certificate or latte-art skills
Wine knowledge from a WSET Level 1 or wine farm stint
Responsible Service of Alcohol training
