Wine Steward (Fine Dining) – Fixed-Term

Guests at this family steakhouse in Tembisa come back for the people, and you'll be one of the reasons. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

You'll be based at a family steakhouse in Tembisa. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Mix cocktails, pour draught and serve shooters to spec at the bar.
• Split bills, process card payments and handle tip-outs at the end of shift.
• Refuse service to anyone under 18 or visibly drunk, as the Liquor Act requires.
• Carry plates to the right seat without auctioning food at the table.
• Greet guests, seat them and hand over menus within a minute of arrival.
• Restock the bar fridges and help with the weekly stock count.

• Grade 10 or higher; matric is a plus
• Neat grooming and a friendly manner under pressure
• You speak clear English and can chat easily with guests
• Quick with basic maths and card machines
• You can stand and walk for a full 8-hour shift
• Own transport or a safe way home after late shifts

• A second language such as isiZulu, isiXhosa or Afrikaans
• A barista course certificate or latte-art skills
• Wine knowledge from a WSET Level 1 or wine farm stint

• Staff meal on every shift
• Paid menu and wine tastings so you can sell with confidence
• You keep your own tips, paid out daily or weekly
