Access Control Officer (Grade C)

Steady 12-hour shifts at a private school campus in Polokwane for PSIRA-registered officers. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

You'll be based at a private school campus in Polokwane. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Check visitors' IDs and capture them on the visitor app or in the gate register
• Search vehicles and bags leaving the site when company policy requires it
• Watch for loitering, broken fencing and open doors during night patrols
• Keep the guardhouse clean and the OB up to date for the relieving officer
• Patrol the perimeter on a set route and scan checkpoint tags
• Write every incident and shift change in the occurrence book (OB)

• Clean criminal record
• Alert, polite and firm with the public
• Able to work 12-hour day and night shifts, including weekends
• Speaks and writes basic English
• PSIRA registration at Grade C or higher, paid up to date

• Stable long-term site contracts
• Paid night-shift allowance under the security sector rules
• Chance to be upgraded to Grade B with training
• Uniform, boots and winter jacket issued

• Make sure your PSIRA fees are paid. A lapsed registration gets your CV thrown out, even if you have years of experience.
• List the types of sites you have guarded, like estate, mall or factory. Security companies place officers by site experience.
