Code 14 Tautliner Driver (Long Distance)

Experienced Code 14 drivers are in short supply, and a long-haul freight fleet in Brakpan is hiring. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

You'll report in Brakpan. Relocation is not covered for this one. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Keep the cab clean and report defects at the end of each trip
• Check the load is secured, strapped or sealed before leaving the depot
• Report breakdowns, delays and incidents to the controller immediately
• Check reefer temperatures and record them on cold-chain loads
• Carry out fuel stops with the fuel card and keep the slips
• Complete border paperwork at Beitbridge, Lebombo or other posts

• Passport for cross-border routes
• Clean criminal record
• At least 3 years on Code 14 trucks
• Able to be away from home for several nights at a time

• Knowledge of SADC border routes
• Clean record on a telematics driving score

• Well-maintained trucks with sleeper cabs
• Paid PrDP renewal
• Overnight and subsistence allowance on trips

• Be honest about accidents or fines. Companies check your driving record anyway and trust drivers who tell them upfront.
• Expect a driving test with a real truck. Arrive rested and do your pre-trip check out loud so the assessor sees it.
