Continuous Miner Operator (Coal) – Immediate Start

If you run a machine safely and hit your cycle times, this underground platinum mine using trackless mobile machinery near Kathu will keep you busy. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

This post is in Kathu (Northern Cape). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Load, haul and tip with the LHD from draw points to the ore pass
• Keep radio contact with the dispatch controller and follow the right-of-way rules
• Report defects and lock out the machine for the maintenance crew
• Complete the pre-use inspection checklist for your trackless mobile machine
• Push and level material on dumps and stockpiles with the dozer
• Log loads, cycle times and machine hours on the onboard system or sheet
• Refuel and wash the machine at the end of your shift where required

• Certificate of fitness from a mine medical practitioner
• Valid operator certificate for the specific machine, from an MQA-accredited provider
• Able to work 12-hour shifts on a rotating day and night roster
• At least 2 years operating the machine in a mining environment
• Clear understanding of the TMM regulations under Chapter 8 of the MHSA regulations
• Code 10 or Code 14 driver's licence

• Experience with ultra-class haul trucks
• Certificates on two or more machine types
• Machine training instructor experience
