Job Description

You'll load and offload trucks at a container unpacking yard in Roodepoort so every delivery goes out full and correct. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

The site is in Roodepoort; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

What your day looks like

Check goods received against the delivery note and flag shorts
Get proof-of-delivery notes signed and stamped at each drop
Stack returns and empties neatly for the next count
Offload containers by hand, counting cartons as they come off
Sweep the bay and clear shrink-wrap after each loading
Guide trucks reversing into the bay with hand signals

You'll need

Honest; you will be handling customer goods and cash-on-delivery slips
Willing to travel on routes that return late
Grade 9 or higher and able to read a delivery note
Friendly with customers at the door
Able to lift and carry heavy items all day

Helpful, not essential

A Code 8 or Code 10 licence (a route to becoming a driver)
Past work as a driver's assistant
Speaking more than one local language for customer drops
