Job Description

Every wall and slab on this low-cost housing development in Pretoria East needs labourers, and the crew needs one more. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

Home base is a low-cost housing development on the Pretoria East side of Gauteng.

What your day looks like

Clear rubble and load it into skips
Sign the daily safety talk register before work starts
Carry bricks, blocks and cement bags to where the bricklayers work
Pass tools and materials to the plumber or electrician as needed
Erect and strip shutters and simple scaffolding under supervision
Mix concrete and mortar by hand or with a small mixer
Dig trenches and foundations to the depth the foreman marks

Must-haves

Physically strong and fit for outdoor work in all weather
You take safety rules seriously and wear full PPE
Grade 8 or higher
Prepared to travel between sites in the area

Extra points for

Living near the site (many projects hire local labour)
Previous site work you can show with a reference

What you get

Overtime on weekend pours and deadline days
Paid weekly or fortnightly
Learn from artisans with a chance to move up to assistant
