Job Description

A software development house in Cape Town CBD needs a developer who can take a ticket from idea to production. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

You'll be based at a software development house in Cape Town CBD. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

The work, day to day

Join daily stand-ups and sprint planning
Pick up tickets from the sprint board and estimate the work
Deploy through a CI/CD pipeline on Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions or GitLab
Build and consume REST or GraphQL APIs
Design database tables and write efficient SQL queries
Pair with junior developers to unblock them
Handle personal data safely, with POPIA rules in mind

Must-haves

Solid Git habits: branches, pull requests and meaningful commit messages
Commercial experience in at least one of PHP, C#, Java, Python or JavaScript
Good SQL and understanding of relational databases
Experience writing automated tests
Stable internet and a quiet workspace for remote days

Extra points for

Cloud certification on AWS, Azure or Google Cloud
Knowledge of secure coding and the OWASP Top 10
Experience in regulated sectors such as banking or medical schemes
