Job Description

A bank's digital channels team in Soweto needs a developer who can take a ticket from idea to production. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

Home base is a bank's digital channels team on the Soweto side of Gauteng. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

What your day looks like

Deploy through a CI/CD pipeline on Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions or GitLab
Write, test and refactor code in your team's main language
Investigate production bugs using logs and monitoring dashboards
Review teammates' pull requests with useful comments
Document how your features work for support and new developers
Build and consume REST or GraphQL APIs
Write unit and integration tests before you merge

You'll need

Commercial experience in at least one of PHP, C#, Java, Python or JavaScript
You can explain technical choices to non-technical people
Good SQL and understanding of relational databases
Experience writing automated tests
Stable internet and a quiet workspace for remote days
A computer science or IT qualification, or a portfolio that proves you can build

Nice if you have

Public GitHub portfolio or published app
Experience in regulated sectors such as banking or medical schemes
