Job Description

An insurance company software team in Stellenbosch needs a developer who can take a ticket from idea to production. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

This post is in Stellenbosch (Western Cape). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

The work, day to day

Pair with junior developers to unblock them
Deploy through a CI/CD pipeline on Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions or GitLab
Pick up tickets from the sprint board and estimate the work
Investigate production bugs using logs and monitoring dashboards
Handle personal data safely, with POPIA rules in mind

You'll need

You can explain technical choices to non-technical people
Good SQL and understanding of relational databases
A computer science or IT qualification, or a portfolio that proves you can build
Stable internet and a quiet workspace for remote days
Experience writing automated tests
Commercial experience in at least one of PHP, C#, Java, Python or JavaScript

Helpful, not essential

Knowledge of secure coding and the OWASP Top 10
Docker and Kubernetes experience
Cloud certification on AWS, Azure or Google Cloud
