Head Waiter (Family Restaurant) – Experienced

Good service at a hotel restaurant in George starts with you: friendly, quick and on top of every order. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

This post is George-based, with most of your time spent at a hotel restaurant. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

• Set tables, polish cutlery and glasses, and check condiments before doors open.
• Refuse service to anyone under 18 or visibly drunk, as the Liquor Act requires.
• Pull espresso shots and steam milk for flat whites and cappuccinos.
• Clear, wipe and reset tables fast during the Friday and Sunday rush.
• Split bills, process card payments and handle tip-outs at the end of shift.
• Carry plates to the right seat without auctioning food at the table.

• Grade 10 or higher; matric is a plus
• Neat grooming and a friendly manner under pressure
• At least 6 months of waitering, bar or coffee shop experience
• Happy to work nights, weekends and public holidays
• Own transport or a safe way home after late shifts

• A second language such as isiZulu, isiXhosa or Afrikaans
• Responsible Service of Alcohol training

• You keep your own tips, paid out daily or weekly

• Walk in with your CV between 2pm and 4pm when managers have time, not during lunch or dinner service.
