HR & IR Officer (Mining Operation)

Keeping a private hospital in George fair, legal and well staffed is the heart of this job. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

The work is in George, Western Cape, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

• Update HR policies when labour law changes.
• Chair or initiate disciplinary hearings and write up the outcome.
• Represent the company at CCMA conciliations and arbitrations.
• Handle grievances with notes, dates and a clear written outcome.
• Run exit interviews and report turnover each quarter.
• Consult with shop stewards and attend union meetings.

• Confident facilitating hard conversations with managers and unions
• Solid working knowledge of the LRA, BCEA and EEA
• Good report writing and Excel
• A degree or diploma in HR management, labour relations or industrial psychology
• CCMA experience, at least at conciliation
• At least 3 years as an HR officer or generalist

• Skills development facilitator (SDF) training
• HR system experience such as Sage 300 People or PaySpace

• Quantify your IR work: how many hearings, CCMA cases and outcomes; that is what HR managers check first.
