HR Intern (Graduate Programme)

This is a strong first step into HR at a municipal human resources unit in Fourways. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

The work is in Fourways, Gauteng, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Help organise wellness days, long-service awards and staff events.
• Take minutes at hearings and HR meetings.
• Set up new staff files and check that all onboarding forms are signed.
• Load job ads and do first-round CV sorting for the recruiter.
• Enrol new staff on medical aid and retirement funds and process exits.
• Book pre-employment medicals and qualification checks.

• Discreet with personal and medical information
• Friendly and approachable with staff at every level
• Willing to learn and follow HR procedures closely
• Neat, organised filing habits

• Any HR admin or internship experience
• Minute-taking training
• Sage 300 People, PaySpace or another HR system

• A clear route to HR officer after 12 to 24 months
• Mentorship from a senior HR practitioner
• Study support toward an HR qualification
• Monthly internship stipend for graduate roles

• In the interview, show you understand confidentiality with a clear example of how you would handle a sensitive file.
