Human Resources Officer (Retail Region)

This manufacturing plant in Johannesburg CBD needs an HR person who knows labour law and the shop floor. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

This post is Johannesburg CBD-based, with most of your time spent at a manufacturing plant. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Run onboarding, contracts and probation reviews for new staff.
• Coordinate training and submit SETA grant claims on time.
• Update HR policies when labour law changes.
• Handle grievances with notes, dates and a clear written outcome.
• Advise line managers on the Labour Relations Act and the BCEA.

• Solid working knowledge of the LRA, BCEA and EEA
• A degree or diploma in HR management, labour relations or industrial psychology
• CCMA experience, at least at conciliation
• Valid driver's licence for multi-site roles

• HR system experience such as Sage 300 People or PaySpace
• Experience on a unionised site or in a bargaining council sector

• CPD and SABPP fees paid
• Medical aid and provident fund contributions
• Annual performance bonus
• Company car or travel allowance for site visits

• Quantify your IR work: how many hearings, CCMA cases and outcomes; that is what HR managers check first.
• Prepare for a case-study question on dismissing an employee fairly, and walk through procedure and substance.
