Job Description

You'll build and ship features that real users touch every day, for a fintech start-up in Kempton Park. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

Home base is a fintech start-up on the Kempton Park side of Gauteng.

The work, day to day

Write unit and integration tests before you merge
Investigate production bugs using logs and monitoring dashboards
Review teammates' pull requests with useful comments
Deploy through a CI/CD pipeline on Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions or GitLab
Handle personal data safely, with POPIA rules in mind
Join daily stand-ups and sprint planning
Pair with junior developers to unblock them

What you need

Stable internet and a quiet workspace for remote days
Solid Git habits: branches, pull requests and meaningful commit messages
Commercial experience in at least one of PHP, C#, Java, Python or JavaScript
Good SQL and understanding of relational databases
Experience writing automated tests
A computer science or IT qualification, or a portfolio that proves you can build

Extra points for

Cloud certification on AWS, Azure or Google Cloud
Knowledge of secure coding and the OWASP Top 10
Experience in regulated sectors such as banking or medical schemes
