Job Description

Here your code runs in production, not in a drawer: a bank's digital channels team in Johannesburg CBD. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

You'll be based at a bank's digital channels team in Johannesburg CBD. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

What your day looks like

Pair with junior developers to unblock them
Handle personal data safely, with POPIA rules in mind
Review teammates' pull requests with useful comments
Investigate production bugs using logs and monitoring dashboards
Write, test and refactor code in your team's main language
Design database tables and write efficient SQL queries

Must-haves

You can explain technical choices to non-technical people
Commercial experience in at least one of PHP, C#, Java, Python or JavaScript
Experience writing automated tests
Solid Git habits: branches, pull requests and meaningful commit messages

Helpful, not essential

Experience in regulated sectors such as banking or medical schemes
Knowledge of secure coding and the OWASP Top 10
