Linux Systems Administrator – Immediate Start

An university IT department in Potchefstroom needs infrastructure that just works, and someone to make it so. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

Home base is an university IT department on the Potchefstroom side of North West.

• Review security logs and investigate suspicious sign-ins
• Manage users, groups and conditional access in Entra ID
• Plan hardware refreshes and licence renewals with a budget
• Build and maintain virtual machines on Hyper-V, VMware or Azure
• Configure switches, VLANs, VPNs and firewall rules
• Handle access requests and keep records that support POPIA compliance
• Document network diagrams and change records

• Solid TCP/IP, routing, switching and firewall knowledge
• Willing to do standby and after-hours maintenance
• Strong Windows Server, Active Directory and Microsoft 365 skills, or Linux for Linux posts
• At least 3 years in systems, network or cloud administration

• CCNA, Fortinet NSE or MikroTik certification
• ISO 27001 audit experience
