Site Security Officer (Construction Yard)

You'll control who comes in and out of a private school campus in Pietermaritzburg, and log every visitor properly. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

This post is in Pietermaritzburg (KwaZulu-Natal). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Check visitors' IDs and capture them on the visitor app or in the gate register
• Hand out and collect contractor access cards
• Direct traffic and parking during school drop-off or big events
• Call the armed response or SAPS number from the call list when needed
• Open and close boom gates for residents, deliveries and contractors

• Physically fit for foot patrols
• Speaks and writes basic English
• Clear, neat handwriting for the OB and registers
• Able to work 12-hour day and night shifts, including weekends
• Alert, polite and firm with the public
• Clean criminal record

• Previous experience at a similar site type
• Firefighting or evacuation training
• A Code 8 licence for vehicle patrols

• Stable long-term site contracts
• Provident fund contributions
• Paid night-shift allowance under the security sector rules

• List the types of sites you have guarded, like estate, mall or factory. Security companies place officers by site experience.
