Job Description

Write clean code, review pull requests and fix what breaks at an insurance company software team in Fourways. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

This post is Fourways-based, with most of your time spent at an insurance company software team.

What your day looks like

Pick up tickets from the sprint board and estimate the work
Deploy through a CI/CD pipeline on Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions or GitLab
Build and consume REST or GraphQL APIs
Document how your features work for support and new developers
Investigate production bugs using logs and monitoring dashboards
Design database tables and write efficient SQL queries
Write, test and refactor code in your team's main language

What you need

Experience writing automated tests
Solid Git habits: branches, pull requests and meaningful commit messages
Commercial experience in at least one of PHP, C#, Java, Python or JavaScript
A computer science or IT qualification, or a portfolio that proves you can build
You can explain technical choices to non-technical people

Nice if you have

Experience in regulated sectors such as banking or medical schemes
Public GitHub portfolio or published app
