Job Description

A logistics software company in Hammarsdale needs a developer who can take a ticket from idea to production. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

The work is in Hammarsdale, KwaZulu-Natal, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

The work, day to day

Design database tables and write efficient SQL queries
Build and consume REST or GraphQL APIs
Document how your features work for support and new developers
Pick up tickets from the sprint board and estimate the work
Join daily stand-ups and sprint planning
Deploy through a CI/CD pipeline on Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions or GitLab

What you need

You can explain technical choices to non-technical people
Experience writing automated tests
A computer science or IT qualification, or a portfolio that proves you can build
Solid Git habits: branches, pull requests and meaningful commit messages

Helpful, not essential

Knowledge of secure coding and the OWASP Top 10
Docker and Kubernetes experience
Public GitHub portfolio or published app
