Trainee Accountant (SAICA Training Contract)

A mid-sized manufacturing group in Benoni needs an accountant who can close fast and explain the variances. This role rewards consistency more than flash.

This post is Benoni-based, with most of your time spent at a mid-sized manufacturing group. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

• Improve controls, such as segregation of duties on supplier changes
• Run the month-end close and prepare the trial balance
• Prepare monthly management accounts with variance commentary
• Calculate provisional tax and check the VAT201 before submission
• Draft annual financial statements under IFRS or IFRS for SMEs
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and clear old reconciling items
• Track stock costing, standard costs and production variances

• Understanding of South African income tax and VAT
• At least 3 years of post-qualification accounting experience
• Experience on an ERP such as Sage X3, Sage 300, Syspro or SAP Business One
• You meet month-end deadlines without being chased
• Strong Excel skills, including large data sets and lookups
• BCom Accounting or equivalent degree
