Undercover Floor Walker (Supermarket) – Immediate Start

Blend in, watch closely and act lawfully: that is loss prevention at a supermarket in Soweto. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

You'll report in Soweto. Relocation is not covered for this one. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Tag high-value stock and check security tags at the doors
• Share trends with the store manager each week
• Record every incident with photos, times and value of goods
• Detain suspects lawfully and call SAPS, then write a statement
• Attend court as a witness when a case goes to trial
• Help with stock counts and point out loss hot-spots
• Search staff bags at exit points according to store policy

• Good report writing
• Available for retail hours including month-end weekends
• Matric or equivalent NQF Level 4
• Knowledge of lawful arrest and search under the Criminal Procedure Act

• Experience giving evidence in court
• Previous store detective experience with case outcomes

• Monthly recovery incentives
• Plain clothes work (no uniform in detective roles)
• Staff discount at the retailer
• Retail trading hours, no night shift in most stores

• Keep your appearance low-key for the interview. Detectives need to blend in with shoppers.
• Show you know the legal limits of search and arrest. A single unlawful arrest can cost a store badly, so they will ask about it.
